The following week, Gwen was on the phone with her patient navigator the afternoon before her next appointment and found out that she was EGFR negative. It was a crushing blow! The doctors were so convinced that she had this popular mutation, but as we know, Gwen is unique! We met with the doctor the next day, a Friday.
The oncologist was not to be deterred! She was going to send for more tests, but for now, the course of treatment was going to have to be chemo… And thankfully they were going to get her started on Monday. It had already been three weeks since the surgery and we were anxious to start killing this cancer! The very next day, we went wig shopping.
Throughout this process, I have witnessed my sister handling everything with an incredible amount of strength. She has faced everything with a positive attitude.
