Valentine’s Day

Gwen starts round 2 on Monday. I think I have now caught up to present time.

Being that this is Valentine’s Day weekend, I think it is appropriate to take time to recognize the outpouring of love, support, and generosity shown to our whole family throughout the past two months. We cannot even begin to thank everyone adequately! The notes, prayers, donations, food, phone calls, texts, and talks have been so appreciated.

We are overwhelmed at the response to the 5K happening next weekend and are so thankful to those participating and especially to Gwen’s colleagues who are putting this together for her. One of her first questions in the doctor’s office post-surgery was about cost. She was told not to worry about it and to focus on staying as healthy as possible so she could fight this disease and keep well while we basically wait for science to catch up. How could she not worry about cost? I personally am overwhelmed by the generosity shown to my sister – I can only imagine how she feels. Thank you for helping to ease her worries on that front so she can focus her energy!

  1. My name is Sally Rabbia, and my husband and I were band parents with Gwen’s husband in New Hartford. I know Gwen is worried about cost and expenses……my husband and i went through a cancer battle ourselves that lasted 7 years and he is now in remission. Battles can be won! Just wanted to let you know my office has a program called Casual for a Cause, in which we pick a cause each month to “Dress Down” and donate the proceeds to a cause we nominate and pick……March of this year will be donated to Gwenstrong, which we all decided is a most worthy cause, and we send blessings, prayers, and will be sending a check in mid -March to help out in just a small way. Keep the faith, the positive energy, and we all will keep the prayers and good vibes from all ends of the earth going as well….God bless…..Sally and Lou Rabbla

  2. Hi Gwen,
You are amazing! I think of you often. Continued thoughts and prayers for strength, comfort and courage are being sent to you, Justin and Callie.
I am friends with Don and Jeanne and we go way back as Don was my son Matthew’s 4th grade teacher and encouraged Matthew in his love for drum corps! Stay strong and keep fighting your good fight!
    Blessings,

  3. Hi Gwen, thinking about you and Justin and Callie, sending you all a big hug. What a great job Allisen has done, this way we can follow your progress without bothering anybody. Wish we were there so we could walk (no running here!) the 5K for you. Love, Moe
